What to bring back

Bordeaux wine, fun wine cork crafts from local artisans, t-shirts or bags with regional sayings (c’est gavé bien!) and macarons from Saint-Emilion.

What to eat

Fresh produce from Le Marché des Capucins, oysters, entrecôte à la bordelaise (steak seared in a rich, Bordeaux-style wine sauce), canelés (small, caramelized cakes) and cep mushrooms picked locally.

Fun fact

A total of 362 historic buildings are scattered across Bordeaux, making it the second French city after Paris with the most heritage sites. You might not have time to see them all, but do try to make it to the 11th-century Church of the Holy Cross, the Cathédrale St-André and the gothic Tour Pey Berland.
