When to visit

We recommend visiting from June to August, when the temperatures are mild, and the weather is pleasant.

What to bring back

Macadamia nuts, Australian opals and aboriginal arts and crafts make for wonderful and authentic souvenirs.

What to eat

Grilled or barbecued Moreton Bay bugs (a local delicacy similar to a lobster), Lamingtons (sponge cakes coated in chocolate and rolled in coconut) and pavlova (meringue with fresh fruit and whipped cream). If you’re feeling brave, you can try Vegemite.

Fun fact

Brisbane gets on average about 287 days of sunshine each year, so be sure to pack your sunscreen and your favourite pair of shades.
